Expansión presents the success stories of different graduates who reinvented their professional preparation and broke into industries they never imagined, such as Caroline Merin, general director of Uber Eats, who considered venturing into investment banking.

However, 2015 turned around in his career while he was pursuing an MBA at the University of Pennsylvania, since as a student of the program he had the opportunity to listen to a lecture by Megan Zoback, then leader of Expansión for America in Uber.

From that moment, his professional work was hooked to the technological issue and a week after graduating he received an offer to join the ranks of the start-up native of Silicon Valley.
"When the plaza opened, one of the observations they made about my profile was that I lacked experience to occupy the management, however, I fought for the position because I knew that, with the tools acquired in the MBA, on market launch, Global negotiation, technology or entrepreneurship, had the capacity to occupy it, "Merin says.

About 38% of students in an MBA want a change and orient their career to another industry, while 33% seek to leave their country and achieve an international position, according to a survey of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC, in charge of applying the GMAT test, to be accepted in an MBA program).

For Fernando Pliego, being in one of these programs represented a change of residence. Today as the leader of marketing channels in Asia-Pacific, the young Mexican recalls that when he graduated from IPADE, he visited China to understand the business environment on that side of the world.

"I stopped seeing Asia as an abstract concept that one goes on vacation to become my life project," says Pliego.

In addition, Expansión talks exclusively with Mexican Miguel Fernández, Avon's global president, who details his time in the Darden classrooms, the business school at the University of Virginia and what he managed to build as an MBA student.

"The MBA helped me develop an instinct for business. It's very difficult to explain, but when my team arrives and puts something on the table, I can know if it's going to be successful or not, "says the manager.
